Research team talking to villagers along the Salween RiverAffected communities research the ecosystems and livelihoods of the populations near dam sites as well as monitor destructive water development projects. By working with allies across the region, research on companies and water development standards is also conducted. Information is used to educate local people and advocate to dam proponents.

A dam workshop in an affected areaUsing the Action Guide for Communities Affected by Dams as well as cartoons, VCDs, and other tools, local people are educated about how dams work, the impacts of dams, and their rights to protect their natural resources. Awareness is raised about specific dam plans.

Demonstration at the Weigyi dam siteThrough open letters to dam builders, including companies and governments, affected people demand participation in decision-making. People also voice their concerns through pamphlets, posters, and peaceful demonstrations.
